ASUS has finally started to roll out the Oreo update for their devices & the first device to get the update is the Zenfone 4 ZE554KL. This is the base the Zenfone 4 regular variant that comes in either Snapdragon 630 or Snapdragon 660 configuration.
The update Firmware version is WW_15.0405.1711.76 & users will receive the update directly via. FOTA service or to be more simplistic, directly via. System Update.
The new update definitely brings the core Oreo features like the Picture-in-picture mode & stuff like that but, the ZenUI 4 has been updated as well with some new features. So, users need to Swipe Up from the home screen to access the recent apps that are kind of the Pixel Launcher. The overall UI is also a bit lighter & smoother in Oreo.
We have already seen this new System UI approach in the Zenfone 4 Max Plus M1 & if you’re aware, the Zenfone 4 Max Plus M1 also has a Face Unlock feature that we’re not sure if it’s included in the Oreo update for the Zenfone 4 ZE554KL or not. But, if we get any confirmation, we’ll update you guys.
Next in line are the Zenfone 4 Pro, Zenfone 4 Selfie line up & Zenfone 4 Max line up in that falls under the Zenfone 4 series. The Zenfone 3 series will be also getting the Oreo update with the ZenUI 4 soon.
So, ASUS really impressed us this time as the planned schedule was the 1st half of 2018 but, they actually started the Oreo rollout before even 2017 ended. So, come on ASUS, update all the pending devices with Oreo within the Q1 of 2018 & that’ll be really impressive.
