After the Zenfone 4, ASUS is finally rolling out Android 8.0 Oreo update for the Zenfone 3 (both 5.2 & 5.5 inch variants). This update carries the Firmware version WW_15.0410.1712.31 & it has introduced some significant changes in the ZenUI ECOsystem cause, this is the same ZenUI 4 that can be found on the Zenfone 4 Series.

The changes include,

  • Software update to Android 8.0 Oreo. Internal storage will decrease slightly after update, suggest to backup data and relocate media file (pictures & video clip) to SD card to reserve at least 1.5GB storage  before starting the software update.
  • Swipe up to All apps: After OS upgrade, launcher has some important changes- swipe up to all apps, all app icon could be changed.
  • More friendly setting UI design
  • Remove the following applications : Minimove,photocollege, do it later

The Zenfone 3 started from Android 6.0 Marshmallow, then got upgraded to Android 7.0 Nougat & now it is getting Android 8.0 Oreo. It’s nice to see ASUS giving so much support even with a Custom UI on top. So, great work ASUS!

The update can be found by checking for update on the System Update option in Settings or on the ASUS Support Website later on.
