Use the Correct Method

When you are downloading an image from Google search, make sure you tap the image first to make it bigger. Once that happens, then only touch and hold the image. Select Download image, Add to Photos or Save to Photos from the menu depending on the browser that you are using. Similarly, you can download other types of files. Restart Your Phone

One of the basic troubleshooting steps is to restart your phone. A quick reboot usually fixes most temporary glitches. There’s a good chance that you’ll be able to save images from Chrome after restarting your phone.

Allow Storage Permission

Chrome won’t be able to save anything on your phone if it doesn’t have permission to access storage. There are chances that you might have accidentally denied it storage permission.

To enable storage permission for Google Chrome on Android:

  1. Open Settings on your phone.
  2. Go to the Apps section.
  3. Here, click on Chrome. Tap Permissions.
  4. Tap Storage and change it to Allow if not already.

Clear Chrome Data and Cache

The other option to fix Chrome can’t download images on Android is to clear its data and cache. Doing so will reset the browser to default settings. However, it will not delete your downloaded data.

  1. Open Settings on your phone.
  2. Go to the Apps section.
  3. Here, click on Google Chrome. Tap Storage.
  4. Click on Manage Space. Tap Free Up Space.
  5. Confirm when prompted.

Check Browser Permission

The browser or the app that you are using to download images from Google search should have the necessary storage permission. If the browser doesn’t have permission, you won’t be able to save the images. In some cases, you will get the message ‘Download complete,’ but the image will never show in your gallery or the Photos app. Here we can also read about How to Hide Apps and Files on Android.
