Earlier in 2015, Ericsson was spotted testing the 5G network, which made us believe that 5G will appear soon. But that did not happen. But, finally, Qualcomm makes an official announcement that they have made a 5G supporting chipset which will be found on all the high-end and mid-range smartphones coming next year i.e. 2020.
This was confirmed when Keith Kressin, Senior Vice President of Product Development team stated: “In 2020, for what it’s worth, all of the premium chips that we sell with our new chip will be 5G-capable.”
We are already aware that Qualcomm’s next chipset, the Snapdragon 865 and Snapdragon 765 already supports the 5G technology. This gives us a clear idea that the Upcoming smartphones to support 5G will be having the 865 and 765 chipset.
With 5G enabled devices, you will get access to a better & faster cellular network. This do promises lower latency on your network, as well as, better internet speed.
Not only that, even the Apple iPhone will support the 5G enabled devices coming in 2020. It got confirmed this year when Apple & Qualcomm signed a deal to use Qualcomm 5G modems.
