  • Next, open the book that you want to read.
  • Next up, tap on the screen to reveal the text button at the top. Tap on it.
  • Up next, select the dark theme on the menu. The change would come into effect instantly, rendering the whole interface black. Now, go ahead and read your favorite stories with the desired peace of mind. And yeah, it would stay the same way throughout the app.
  • If you ever want to go back to the light theme, all you need to do is tap on the text button at the top and choose the light theme option on the menu.
  • If you don’t want to manually go through the entire process then make sure that the “Auto-Night Theme” toggle is turned on.

How to Use Dark Mode with Apple Books on iPhone and iPad

  1. Open Apple Books on your device
  2. Choose what you’d like to read
  3. Tap your screen to see the menu bar up top
  4. Tap aA in the top right corner
  5. Choose the gray or black dark mode
  6. You can turn on Auto-Night Theme when using the white, sepia, or gray modes

Mac

On the mac, the app-wide dark mode can be enabled by just simply enabling the system-wide dark mode! You can do this by going to System Preferences > General > and selecting the appearance as ‘Dark’

On the iPad, app-wide dark mode is automatically enabled as soon as you move into a dimly light environment. There is currently no way of enabling it manually

iPhone

The iPhone just like the iPad goes into dark mode automatically and has no way of being toggle manually. To enable dark mode while reading, just follow these steps-

  1. On Device first, Select the book that you want to read.
  2. Next, Select the appearance ‘AA’ icon from the top right of the screen.
  3. Select the ‘black circle’ which is at the extreme right of the drop-down menu.
  4. Now you can set up dark mode on your Books app and read comfortably in the day.
